Aged people’s group named “SMOKE HOUSE SADO” in Akadomari, Sado has commenced to process smoked fish as a new delicacy food in the island.
So far they had made SMOKED JACK MACKEREL (AJI-KUN), MOKED COD (TARA-KUN), SMOKED LEATHER・JACKET (KOUGURI-KUN) which were packed into pouch with 30-40grm net weight of these.
These product are available at main food store, liquor store in Akadomari area and two shops in Ryotsu area named UMAIMONNYA.
One of souvenir shop near ferry terminal in Ryotsu is expected to handle it as from next month so that many tourist could be picked it up there and will be enjoyed the smoky new taste while they are travelling to the island.
Selling price is very reasonable for consumers, so the sale goes well with good reputation.
In fact, this sort of community business was collaborated between aged group in the area and the writer who is staff of Japan Rural area Cooperation Volunteers in Sado city for the purpose of that ;-
